Getting back into the swing of things....

Well this weekend we had two lessons which was great to try & get his brain thinking again after having a few months off.

Saturdays lesson was not that great - he was really spooky, wouldn't relax & had a few tanties...we attempted to canter however he must have been watching rabbits all winter & all he could do was leap around like a bunny. Had my instructor & I in fits of laughter!

Taking a moment to gather our thoughts :)

Kind of relaxing....

Todays lesson was much, much better. Had a little trouble relaxing on the right rein but we got there eventually. Ended up doing some great canter work and leg yields etc to try and keep him interested so was quite happy.
Absolutely sure there is something scary over there!
Trying to get him to chill...
At last a nice trot
No bunny hopping today!

He is a pain in the arse to bring back in every winter but I accept thats him - he isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination so I just grin & bear it...can get frustrating like yesterday but when he tries so hard the next day it makes it worthwhile.
No lessons for a few weeks now but will take him down to the local jumping arena in a few weeks & try & hopefully get that drama sorted out quickly too :)

Sick of the muddy paddocks

I put Cobs into the little area round the back of the house today just to give him a break from being knee deep in mud. He had a little nana nap until I went & woke him up taking photos of him and then proceeded to try & come into the house LOL!!

I am sure there must be something in here for meeee...

We have just been doing road rides this week to try & get back into riding mode & with the fine weather predicted tomorrow hope to go to my friends arena for a little play.

Winter Time :(

Well as the weather hasn't been that flash & I melt in the rain Cobs has been turned out for about six weeks. Just a quick road ride in the weekend if the weather stays fine enough & thats it.

Unfortunately this means I have a bouncy pony to ride as he loves to be in constant work & getting winter size feeds and no work creates lots of scary things down the road apparently.

I will start to bring him back into work in the next few weeks if the weather plays the game.

I let Cobs & Dinky (the mini) out in the driveway over the weekend so they could get out of the sloppy paddocks & Cobs put himself in the garage for they day and ate as much hay as he could possibly stuff in his gob. He then proceeded to pick up his halter almost saying to me "Come on Mum, lets go for a ride". The big idiot!!
